This program involves a 150 year old farmhouse typical in the south-eastern Yamanashi region with its distinctive structure. Following more than 10 years of no use, this house will be restored over a series of six workshops and house-restoration lectures. For those who want to learn about old house restoration and Japan’s old house building heritage, this program will offer an excellent hands-on learning opportunity. Actual operations of this workshop series will be conducted by Mr. Osawa, the founding principal of the JMRA Minka School. He is also designated as a JMRA Minka Restoration Architect.(Organizer Sub committees:JMRA MINKA Otasuketai /JMRA MINKA Mchidukuri-bukai )
※Rain:Will be held
The first workshop held on July 23-24 started with a theme of “To Understand Kominka”. The first day was dedicated to walking around the house’s surroundings, and studying the house history through a slide show from photo albums left in the house. The participants spent the second day surveying folk tools and silk warm raising devices left in the house. Some findings were truly eye-popping
