■Yamanashi Farmhouse Restoration Workshop
This is a traditional farmhouse type typically found in this Yamanashi region. This workshop series started in 2022, and work will focus on a Yamanashi farmhouse built 150 years ago. Participants will learn key aspects and work related to where and how to restore an old house. This WS is our 3rd year offering. Check to see footsteps of the last year’s WS at our website https://minka.or.jp. Mr. Takumi Osawa, the owner of this farmhouse and the founder principal of JMRA Minka School, will be the workshop instructor. The participants will enjoy the natural surroundings too.
■What you will learn
There is a long history behind minka traditions supported by the entire village community called “Yui”- mutual support practices. Our goal of the workshop is to learn and to have an experience of minka restoration steps. We want to use natural building materials and learn about nature friendly sustainability。All sessions will be in Japanese.
■Meeting frequency
